Organization

Information & Communications of Nagoya University was established on April 1, 2006 as an operation support organization for the entire University aiming to promote integration and to create an effective system for the planning, execution and services of the University’s information strategy.

The Information & Communications supervises the Information Strategy Office, the Information Technology Center and the Information Security Office.

History of Information & Communications

  • April 1, 2004 Information Security Promotion Agency Established
    The Information Security Promotion Agency was established in order to respond to and handle problems concerning information security occurring in the University and to promote the integration of information security measures and informatization measures at the University.

  • April 1, 2006 Information & Communications Established
    The Information & Communications was established as an operation support organization for the entire University and the Information Strategy Office and Information Support Department were established as part of the Headquarters in order to organize subdivisions comprehensively and to provide strong promotion of the use of information services and information with regard to overall measures related to the informatization of the University’s organization, budget and system, as well as to facilitate operations, etc. pertaining the information-related Nationwide Joint-use Facility in the University. The Information Strategy Office performs planning for measures related to information infrastructure development and the introduction of information system of the University and was assigned to be in charge of information security promotion. The Information Security Promotion Agency was abolished. The Information Support Department is a virtual organization consisting of the Information Planning Division of Financial Affairs Department, Administration Department of the Information Technology Center, and engineering staff members of the Center for Information Media Studies, and is in charge of overall information services (including education and research) at the University.

  • April 1, 2008 Reorganization of the Information & Communications
    In order to strengthen the support system of Headquarters, establish information support departments and thereby to establish a strong support system for information services, the Information Technology Center and the Center of Information Media Studies were established under the supervision of the Information & Communications. The Information Support Department was concretely established. The Information and Communications Technology Services Department was also established, consisting of the Information and Communications Technology Services Division and the Information Technology Services Infrastructure Division.</td>

  • April 1, 2009 Reorganization of the Information & Communications
    In order to strengthen the planning function of the Information Strategy Office by enhancing the organization of its teaching staff as well as enhancing the practical research and development system that provides comprehensive IT support for the education, research, management and overall studies of the Information Technology Center, the Center of Information Media Studies was abolished and integrated with the former Information Technology Center and the new Information Technology Center was established.</td>

  • April 1, 2020 Information & Communications Established
    The Information and Communications Headquarters was renamed the Information and Communications Promotion Headquarters in conjunction with the corporate integration of National University Corporation Gifu University and National University Corporation Nagoya University and the newly inaugurated National University Corporation Tokai National Higher Education and Research System. In addition, the Information Security Office was newly established as an organization to implement emergency and daily countermeasures for Nagoya University cybersecurity incidents, as well as matters related to planning, drafting, and evaluation of Nagoya University cybersecurity countermeasures. In addition, the information promotion department became an independent organization in order to make the office organization under direct control of the organization.
